The Plot
Twenty years have passed. After the humans culled the wolves back until only twenty five remained. One of those was the eldest wolf, grey and arthritic, not long for this life. As he favoured them with his white coated gaze, he noted with a fortune born of the Gods that there had been a dozen males and a dozen females spared. All were a year of age, and came from one of the Great Packs. With his dying breath he ordered the remaining two dozen to split up, to breed so that the noble wolf survived and above all, to forget what the humans had done.
Not one wolf there could forget how guns had banged, startling wolves into dizzying headlong rushes, having to leap over fallen packmates and relatives until crashing into a pit filled with sharpened logs. Humans had reverted back to the old methods of killing wolves, and when they judged the wolves to be beaten, they left them, still twitching and dying in various pits.
The wolves left split up, they split into four separate packs of six, judging this to be fair, and promising that all the wolf laws for breeding would be, for the moment, forgotten. Every wolf in the pack would be allowed to breed three times with their chosen mate. They would create four Great Packs whose pups would interbreed so that they were genetically independant.
Ten years passed, and with nearly two hundred pups born to the original twelve females, they and their mates finally passed into the next world having satisfied themselves that they had done their best to bring back the wolf species. No longer were there separate breeds, all the wolves were of mixed heritage. Even these young carried on their parents legacy, every female breeding twice this time. Wolves soon numbered in their thousands, and the pack leaders again passed into history.
Today, a further ten years on, these historical wolves are unnamed and the wolves have spread outwards. The four Great Packs remain, however, though they have different ideas about the humans. Two packs have forgiven them for the problems they caused, and two have chosen to hunt down the human menace one at a time and kill them.
It's now for YOU to decide where you want to stand, on the side of forgiveness, or the side of vengeance.
Would you fight to protect the humans from your own kind...or would you rather kill the humans? Do you see in shades of grey and only kill to protect your own or do you defend the humans until your pack is threatened?
